Guest Blogger: Yours, Mine, and Ours

Simply put, Meredith cracks me up! There is a saying that I love that goes "Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without". Meredith definitely adheres to this saying! She loves to repurpose things. Here is a chair she fixed up.

The BEFORE:

The AFTER

To spice up her cupboards she added some contact paper.

Another things she LOVES is to repurpose clothing. She takes "freepiled" clothes and turns them into new clothes for her and her little boy.
Well, here she is with a tutorial for you all!

Meredith is my name,
freepiling is my game
and Yours, Mine and Ours is my blog.
Thanks for letting me hang out today!

Let's get to it.

We're gonna make this:
  A faux doily table runner!!

1- Go ahead and grab all those old
"Turkey Trot"
T-shirts hanging around.
(You're never gonna wear them again, let's keep it real.).

2- Start tracing circles/squares onto the shirts.
Trace different sizes and maximize the available fabric.

3- Cut out your traced shapes.
4- Take one of your cut outs and fold it in half.

5- Fold it in half again.

6- Remember those paper snowflakes you learned to
make in first grade?
Well we're gonna do that again here.
Cut out any which way to make each "doily" unique.
Unfold.

Repeat this step until you have a bunch of doilies!

7- Start working on the layout of your runner.

8- Once you have it laid out how you'd like it, start lightly hot gluing the doilies to each other.
Make sure they're all on the same side
(if you cut up shirts with pictures on them, make sure they're all white side up/all picture side up.) before you glue.

Once you have it glued together to the desired length, you're done!

Now you have a easy, pretty, and washable runner to use in your next tablescape.
And your drawers have some extra space for some new clothes.
Win win!

Thank you Meredith!!!
