Pink, procrastination, and 2 kinds of stitches

Our family picked my brother's family for Christmas. My niece wanted some kind of board (cork, magnet, etc) in her room. I decided to make it. I  used both magnetic paint and chalk board paint. It holds magnets AND she can write on it with chalk!!! Now I want one ( minus the hot pink). Since the magnetic paint is technically magnetic PRIMER, it went on first. It says to use at least 2 coats so I did 4 to make sure it would work well. It dries fast so it wasn't a big deal, which was great since I waited until the night before our family party to make it :) I am not gonna lie, it was weird painting something pink. I am personally not a huge fan and having all boys I don't get a lot of requests for it. But it is cute in a girly, tweeny kinda way. The magnets are just wood circles from the craft store that I painted and hot glued magnets to the back.

Now, onto the first kind of stitches. I pulled out the sewing machine again. A lot sooner than I had planned. After the Soap Buddy debacle Tutorial, I swore I was done with the thing. But the same niece loves to bake and wanted an apron. She even picked out the fabric and ribbon. I can't sew well so why did I VOLUNTEER to make her one? I don't know other than we were in a fabric store discussing our love of cupcake shows and she asked. She was too cute to refuse :)
I am pretty proud of myself. No pattern and I have never made one before. My sewing resume consists of pillows. Square pillows. And crooked hems on curtains. So while I will not be showing you a close up, I will in the same breath say that it is probably them best thing I have made. (My son is modeling it for me)
The other kind of stitches unfortunately involves my sweet 3 year old. While at church he fell in nursery and had to go get stitches today. He was so brave. But something kind of funny, when the doctor asked if he wanted stitches or to have it glued, he said stitched. The doctor was surprised and said "You don't want me to glue it?" My little guy said, "No! Glue is hot." He thought the doctor was going to pull out the glue gun to patch him up!!! Well, glue guns fix almost everything :) As it turned out, it was too deep for glue to be an option. It was right by his eye too so he will more than likely have a black eye for Christmas. Awww memories.

  1. He fell in nursery? That had to be traumatizing for a lot of people.
