Fabric Rosette Cuff Tutorial by: See Kate Sew

I am so happy to have Kate from See Kate Sew here today to share a SEWING tutorial. I, sadly, am no seamstress. If I had a sewing site it would be called See Stacy Mess Up. So I am always happy to have someone who know what they are talking about in that area take the wheel for awhile. Today I am just along for the ride!

Fabric Rosette Cuff
Materials:
Fabric pieces:
1 cuff piece: 4 1/2" by 8"
3 flower pieces: 2 1/4 by 14"
4" of 1/4" wide elastic
1 large (1-1 1/2") button
To make the cuff:
Fold your cuff piece in half right sides together along the long edge. Sew edge using a 1/4" seam allowance.
Turn right side out and press with the seam in the middle of the cuff.
Press under 1/4" on both short edges. Pin one edge together.
Insert both ends of elastic in the other edge and pin in place. Sew both ends closed using a 1/8" seam.
Backstitch where the elastic is for extra strength.
Sew button 1/8" from edge of the other side of the cuff.
Your cuff is done. Set it aside while you make the flowers.

To make flowers:
Fold strip in half longways with wrong sides together. Press.
Tie a simple knot at the end of the strip.
Wrap the long strip around the knot once, keeping the fold in place. Then twist the strip so the frayed edge faces up.
Wrap the strip around the knot again, this time with the frayed side up. Continue twisting and wrapping.
Secure with fabric glue on the back as you go.
Continue until you have 1" of the strip left.
Fold it behind the flower and secure with glue. This will keep the whole flower together.

Center the three flowers between the button and the elastic edge and sew on by hand using stitches to keep the edges down and the center secure. The flower "petals" will hide the thread so just sew through the cuff and flowers where you think it needs to be tacked down.
Done! Time to strut your cuff!

Thank you Kate!!! What great pictures! Even I might be able to do that. You need to check out her awesome blog. She doesn't just sew. Remember that gorgeous blue acorn wreath??? Yep. It was hers. So go have a look around :)
