Wildflowers and Whimsy

I am so excited to introduce you to a new blog! You are going to love it. So sit back, relax, and scroll on down :)

Hi!  I'm April from  Wildflowers & WhimsyI am so excited to be posting here today!  Stacy is such a talented lady!  I'll admit I was a little intimidated by her, but she is incredibly sweet and I am so glad she agreed to do this blog swap with me!

So, a little bit about me....I am a wife and mommy to two sweet little boys and one very outspoken little girl...all 4 years  and under.  I plan on homeschooling, but since they aren't of school age yet, I spend a lot of time sewing and crafting, and they spend a lot of time, ehem, "helping".   Which basically means they pulled the thread out of my sewing matching when I wasn't looking or like the time I left my scissors out by accident and Sophie cut up part of a dress I was working on...seriously, I was out of the room for two minutes!  How do they get into these things so quickly?!?

My husband travels a lot for work which means it's typically just me and three young kids....so crafts and blogging have become the hobby that keeps me sane.

My blog is fairly new, and so far, I have mostly posted about crafts, but this year, I am starting a linky party called Sew Crafty Saturday and I will be doing a post called Window Shoppin' Wednesday where I pick one of my favorite etsy shops each week and do a spotlight on it...this is free so if any of you have an etsy shop you would like me to feature be sure to email me so I can check it out!  I would also like to start posting free sewing patterns  because eventually when my kids are older I would like to maybe make and sell my own patterns and I figure it would be good practice and a nice way to get input on what people want out of patterns...or who knows maybe by then I'll live at the beach and I'll just keep doing it for free because I am too busy hanging out on the beach to run a business... : )  that would be pretty nice...

Anyway, here are some of my readers favorites....

Petti Tutu Tutorial

Tinkerbell Shoes Tutorial

Puppy PJ's Free Pattern Download
These were for a friend's dog...we don't have one  :(

I also do a lot of sewing for my local fabric shop, so I try to write reviews of the patterns and include tips on areas where I had trouble.
Like with this Princess Bella Dress...

I am also really excited to be in the Top 10 in Project Toddler Runway on Shwin & Shwin!  It just officially started this week and the challenge is "The Shirt Off Your Back"...basically a refashion, and  I have something really awesome in store...well, I think it is anyway ; P, but I can't tell you about it because from now on it is anonymous.  But definitely check it out and vote for your favorites!  The entry that got me in was my Cranberry Dress...

And I just have to share one more pic with you before I go.  I just got finished making my nanny's wedding dress.  It was such an honor to have her trust me for something so important.  Now before you go getting all impressed like most of the people I have mentioned it to....it was a very, very simple dress,  but I really enjoyed making it, and I think it turned out lovely....

I hope you'll stop by my blog, and I would love to hear from you!  Thanks again so much to Stacy for doing this blog swap with me!  ♥

Ummmm. Intimidated? I am intimidated by HER! Anyone who can sew is amazing in my book, and April is wonderful. That cranberry dress. Shut up! Am I the only one that wants to put in an order for an adult sized one???? And a wedding dress? Well, we won't even go there. . . We all saw my sad excuse of a sewing tutorial. (sigh) Please go check out her site. You will not be disappointed :)

My linky party is still going on. Just scroll down to the next post. It ends tonight and I will do a feature post tomorrow with some of my favorites.
